Job Summary
The Senior Environmental Engineer is responsible for leading environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and agency coordination for midstream, interstate, compressor station, storage, and natural gas related energy infrastructure projects. This position serves as the technical lead for permitting efforts and provides strategic environmental guidance throughout project planning, engineering, construction, and operations.
The Senior Environmental Engineer will coordinate with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, oversee environmental consultants, and ensure projects are completed in compliance with applicable environmental regulations while maintaining project schedules and budgets. Incumbents have the responsibility and authority to make decisions on engineering problems and methods applicable to the resolution of important issues.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead environmental permitting efforts for midstream, interstate transmission, compression, storage, and related energy infrastructure projects.
- Manage FERC pre-filing and certificate application processes, including preparation of environmental resource reports and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate environmental review activities under NEPA, including Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
- Serve as the primary environmental liaison with federal agencies, state environmental agencies, tribal governments, and local jurisdictions.
- Develop permitting strategies that minimize project risk while supporting project schedules and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee preparation and submission of environmental permit applications, technical studies, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate biological, cultural, wetland, water resource, threatened and endangered species, air quality, noise, and socioeconomic studies.
- Manage environmental consultants, engineering firms, and specialty contractors to ensure quality deliverables and schedule adherence.
- Support route selection by identifying environmental constraints and permitting risks.
- Review engineering designs for environmental compliance and constructability.
- Ensure compliance with permit conditions during construction through coordination with environmental inspectors and construction teams.
- Monitor regulatory developments affecting natural gas infrastructure and provide guidance to project teams.
- Prepare technical reports, regulatory correspondence, permit applications, and executive-level project updates.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or job-related discipline
- 6 years of related experience
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Other Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills.
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or ESRI GIS software a plus, but not required.
