We’re seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant in our Free Health Care Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The Medical Assistant serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team by supporting patient-centered clinical operations and care coordination. Working under the direction of licensed healthcare providers, the Medical Assistant assists with patient intake, basic clinical support services, patient navigation, and care coordination to promote efficient, high-quality care within the Free Health Care Center.

Medical Assistant Key Performance Objectives Include:

  • Welcoming patients and assisting with the intake process.
  • Obtaining and documenting patient vital signs.
  • Preparing examination and treatment rooms.
  • Stocking clinical supplies and maintaining inventory needs.
  • Performing approved CLIA-waived laboratory testing and documenting testing according to clinic policy.
  • Coordinating referrals to specialty care and community resources.
  • Assisting patients with scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Assisting with patient reminders and follow up communications.
  • Documenting patient information accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Following all quality and safety practices and requirements.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year of experience in healthcare, human services, or customer services is preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) is required.
  • The ability to complete the Free Health Care Center Clinical Support Competency Program is required.
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved populations is required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are required.
  • Proficiency with computers is required.
  • Medical Assistant certification is preferred but not required.
