We are seeking a Medical Referral Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will serve as an essential connection between patients, providers, and insurance companies to ensure timely, accurate referrals and exceptional patient care.

Requirements:
  • Coordinate and process referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain patient medical records to support referral requests.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure coverage for recommended services.
  • Communicate with patients regarding referral status, appointment details, and any necessary follow-up information.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical staff, and outside healthcare providers to facilitate seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate referral documentation while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with scheduling and rescheduling patient appointments as needed.
  • Retrieve, update, scan, file, and electronically fax patient records and other medical documentation.
  • Process medical records requests and support general administrative office functions.
  • Monitor referral workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and patient experience.
  • Crosstrain to answer incoming calls and respond to patient voicemails.

Education & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a medical office, referral coordination, patient scheduling, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare services, and insurance verification processes.
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with electronic medical records, Microsoft Office, and data entry.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients, providers, and team members.
