What You'll Do

The Safety Manager will work closely with field employees, supervisors, project managers, customers, and company leadership to maintain a proactive and practical safety program across Delta's operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of Delta's company-wide safety program.
  • Maintain a strong field presence by regularly visiting job sites and working directly with crews and supervisors.
  • Conduct field safety audits and inspections to identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable OSHA regulations and utility-industry safety requirements.
  • Develop, update, and implement safety policies, procedures, programs, and training.
  • Lead or coordinate employee safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and refresher training.
  • Investigate injuries, near misses, vehicle incidents, property damage, and other safety-related events.
  • Identify root causes and work with management and employees to implement effective corrective actions.
  • Maintain required safety documentation, records, reports, and certifications.
  • Track safety trends and use findings to identify areas for additional training or improvement.
  • Support customer safety requirements, prequalification programs, and contractor-compliance systems such as ISNetworld.
  • Coordinate or provide CPR, First Aid, fire extinguisher, and other required safety training as appropriate.
  • Work with field leadership to ensure employees have the proper PPE, training, tools, and information needed to perform their work safely.
  • Participate in project planning and job hazard analysis to address risks before work begins.
  • Serve as an approachable safety resource for employees at every level of the company.
  • Help develop a culture in which employees feel comfortable raising safety concerns and taking responsibility for protecting themselves and their coworkers.
Requirements:

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to communicate effectively with people working in the field.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Safety management experience in electric utilities, utility construction, electrical construction, heavy construction, or a closely related industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
  • Experience conducting field audits, safety investigations, and employee training.
  • Ability to recognize hazards associated with utility construction and develop practical solutions for controlling those hazards.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate safety expectations firmly while maintaining strong working relationships with field employees.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing contractor safety programs and customer compliance requirements preferred.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent training strongly preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid instructor certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • Safety credentials such as CHST, CSP, ASP, CUSP, or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to Delta job sites throughout the region.
