Workday Payroll Functional Consultant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Workday Payroll Functional Consultant based in United States .

This role offers the opportunity to help clients implement, optimize, and support Workday Payroll solutions across US and Canadian payroll environments.
You will serve as a trusted functional advisor, helping organizations improve payroll configurations, processes, compliance, and overall system performance.
The position combines hands-on Workday configuration with client consulting, troubleshooting, analysis, and continuous improvement.
You will collaborate across Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking to ensure accurate processing and seamless connections between HR technology functions.
The role is well suited to a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving complex payroll challenges and translating business needs into effective system solutions.
You will work closely with client stakeholders and internal teams while managing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes.
This is a fully remote opportunity for professionals authorized to work in Canada or the US without current or future visa sponsorship.

Accountabilities
  • Lead or support the deployment, configuration, and post-implementation support of Workday Payroll solutions, with a primary focus on US and Canadian Payroll.

  • Partner with client Payroll leads to assess, improve, and expand existing payroll configurations and business processes.

  • Manage functional changes and configuration updates while evaluating their downstream impact across related Workday modules.

  • Troubleshoot payroll issues, investigate root causes, and recommend solutions that improve system performance and processing accuracy.

  • Collaborate with client and internal teams across Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking to support seamless integrations and accurate payroll processing.

  • Review and refine existing payroll configurations and processes in line with business requirements and best practices.

  • Prioritize, manage, and respond to client support cases while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.

  • Provide functional guidance and recommendations that help clients optimize their Workday Payroll environment.

  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation while ensuring deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience configuring and supporting Workday Payroll, including US and Canadian Payroll.

  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and reporting within Canadian and US payroll environments.

  • Proven experience managing payroll processes using Strada Payroll systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, review, and improve existing payroll configurations and business processes.

  • Proficiency with Workday modules related to Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with professional fluency in English.

  • Strong time management skills and a consistent track record of meeting project and client deliverables.

  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with the ability to understand broader business objectives and impacts.

  • College or university degree in HR, Information Systems, or a related discipline is beneficial.

  • Exposure to global payroll implementations outside the US and Canada is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with Workday reporting tools and business process configuration is a plus.

  • Must be authorized to work in the country of residence in the US or Canada without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
