SummaryTo provide support to the accounting department by managing daily accounting tasks. The Jr Accountant will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the credit unions finances.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Primarily responsible for:
- Maintaining and reconciling corporate general ledger accounts daily
- Resolving issues with various daily transactional posting to the general ledger.
- Posting of recurring monthly journal entries.
- Organization, filing, and record retention within accounting the department.
- Performing the accounts payable functions of the accounting department.
- Auditing and posting of credit unions credit card accounts.
- Adding fixed assets and prepaids to the sub-ledger and posting of fixed assets and amortization expense.
- Maintaining proper internal controls over accounts payable and corporate credit cards.
- Monitor official check and money order exceptions and gauging in daily cash flow needs in credit unions corporate accounts.
- Manual posting of ACH exceptions.
- Coordinating with compliance department to file required escheatment reports.
- Prepare expenditure documents for board review.
- Assembling requested records to outside auditors and examiners.
- Other accounting duties as assigned by the Accounting Department Manager.
- Assists all team members as needed.
Must develop a working knowledge of the credit union's technology systems in relation to general ledger and other accounting functions and, be able to develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, policies, and procedures.

Education
- Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be able to interact with team members courteously and professionally in other areas of operation.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with MS excel.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of GAAP
Communication
- Ability to respond to common inquiries/concerns from managers, team members, business community, and regulatory agency representatives.

- Ability to effectively present information to the Accounting Department Manager and CEO/CFO.
- Ability to communicate effectively with third party vendors.
Physical Demands

Travel/Training
- Occasional travel and flexibility in scheduling may be required. Training applicable to position as assigned by the Accounting Department Manager as well as maintain regulatory training as required.
