Summary

We are growing and adding a new position! The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading and coordinating all maintenance activities for a manufacturing operation consisting of four equipment lines operating three shifts per day, five to six days per week providing leadership and direction to a team of approximately 10 maintenance technicians and being accountable for equipment reliability, preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, safety, and minimizing production downtime. The Maintenance Superintendent works closely with Production, Engineering and Safety leadership to ensure equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner while supporting production requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of approximately 10 maintenance technicians supporting four production/equipment lines.
  • Coordinate maintenance coverage across three shifts, five to six days per week.
  • Establish daily and weekly maintenance priorities based on production requirements, equipment condition, and available resources.
  • Assign technicians to planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Provide clear expectations, coaching, performance feedback, and accountability to maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure effective communication and shift-to-shift handoffs.
  • Help train and develop maintenance technicians in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, and other applicable skills.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations on capital projects and equipment installations.
  • Develop weekly maintenance schedules in coordination with Production and Coordinate planned downtime and major maintenance activities with Operations.
  • Prioritize work orders based on safety, production impact, equipment condition, and business needs.
  • Ensure technicians have the tools, parts, information, and resources required to complete assigned work.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the maintenance department.
Requirements:

Required

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to effectively lead maintenance activities across multiple shifts.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supervising a multi-shift maintenance department.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems.
  • CMMS experience.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing/industrial production environment.
  • Regular exposure to noise, moving machinery, heat/cold, dust, oils, and other industrial conditions.
  • Must be able to work on the production floor and respond to equipment emergencies.
  • May be required to respond to critical equipment issues outside normal scheduled hours.
