About the Role
GEL Solutions, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a highly motivated Survey Technician to join our dynamic team in our Greensboro, NC office as part of the Survey group. The Survey Technician is primarily responsible for assisting survey crews in the collection of surveying data needed to complete different types of survey work assignments for a variety of projects. Field work and occasional travel is required. This position is an entry-level job learning and performing the fundamentals of site surveying. The Survey Technician job requires teamwork, tenacity, and flexibility to safely meet our clients’ needs.
What You'll Do
- Perform data collection activities in the field for various types of survey projects
- Work safely and following applicable Federal, State and local laws, regulations, ordinances as part of a survey crew
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Apply appropriate principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to various types of surveying projects
- Proper use and care of survey tools and other survey field equipment used for measuring, sighting, and leveling
- Demonstrate and supporting GEL’s core values
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in land surveying preferred
- High School Diploma required
- Familiarity with commonly used surveying terms and with the use and care of survey tools and other survey field equipment
- Possess high ethical standards and support/demonstrate company core values
- Survey experience on North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and other transportation projects a plus
- 50 lbs. lifting requirement, ability to transport equipment across rugged terrain
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Skilled with Microsoft Office 365 applications including: Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean Motor Vehicle Record

Working Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed almost exclusively in the field. Occasionally projects may be completed at commercial, government, and industrial client’s sites. Overnight travel is expected not to exceed 20%.
