Production Supervisor
Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned manufacturing areas. This position provides leadership and direction to production employees, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations while meeting production schedules and business objectives. The Production Supervisor serves as a hands-on leader who promotes employee engagement, continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Lead, coach, and develop production employees to achieve performance, quality, safety, and productivity goals.
· Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing activities to ensure efficient operations and adherence to production schedules.
· Plan staffing and work assignments to maintain adequate production coverage and meet customer demands.
· Monitor employee performance, attendance, and work habits; provide feedback, coaching, and corrective action as necessary.
· Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development initiatives.
· Promote teamwork, employee engagement, and a positive work environment.
· Ensure production equipment is utilized effectively and communicate maintenance needs to minimize downtime.
· Analyze production data, workflows, capacity, and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
· Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, and other departments to optimize operations and resolve issues.
· Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations.
· Conduct safety observations, audits, investigations, and employee training as required.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
· Ensure products meet established quality standards and customer requirements.
· Support problem-solving efforts and implementation of corrective actions.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 3-5 years of manufacturing, production, or industrial experience.
· 1-2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
· Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and workplace safety requirements.
· Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to prioritize work and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
· Experience with ERP, MRP, or production planning systems.
· Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma experience.
· Mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills.
Normal Working Hours and Conditions
Core business hours are generally 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; however, this position may require work outside normal business hours based on operational needs, production demands, training requirements, or business conditions.
Physical Requirements
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a manufacturing environment. Daily activities include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and operating computer and office equipment. The position may occasionally require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials and equipment up to 50 pounds. Employees must be able to communicate effectively and work safely in a production environment.
This revised version combines the leadership and people-management strengths from the newer exempt supervisor role with the manufacturing and operational focus from the Hardware/Gasket descriptions, while remaining broad enough to cover any Keltec production department.
