Job Description

Beacon nurses are the heartbeat of our health system. We are excited to announce new pay options that value our acute care, bedside nurses. Both full-time and part-time (24 hours per week) registered nurses are eligible for premium pay.

We are offering wages at $36.00 an hour ($73,440 annually) with a signed 3 (three) year agreement and completed department orientation. Your hourly rate will depend on the year of licensure and shift. Please see the details below. During your interview, we will provide you with your rate of pay for each option.

  • Upon completion of department orientation, starting at $36 an hour with a 3 (three) year agreement to work at Beacon Health System as an RN on days
  • Upon completion of department orientation, starting at $43 an hour with a 3 (three) year agreement to work at Beacon Health System as an RN on nights
  • If you choose not to opt into an agreement, Beacon Health System offers a competitive hourly rate

We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join our Surgery team. The Surgery Nurse plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care by preparing the surgical suite, organizing equipment and supplies, and supporting the surgical team throughout each procedure. Responsibilities include interviewing and transporting patients, assisting anesthesia with induction and emergence, positioning and prepping patients, maintaining a sterile environment, documenting intraoperative activities, and assisting with patient transport and room turnover.

    What You’ll Do

    As a Surgery Department Registered Nurse, you’ll report to the Director or Manager to provide professional nursing services in the area of assignment, assess the needs of patients and initiates, and implement and evaluate individualized plans of care. You will collaborate with other professional, clinical, and ancillary staff in providing compassionate and quality care to patients.

    Surgery Department RN Job Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively performs high-risk, high-frequency technical procedures in accordance with legal and professional standards.

  • Prioritizes patient care activities based on acuity, resource availability, patient preferences, and departmental needs.

  • Identifies and responds to physical or emotional health risks, initiating appropriate corrective or preventive actions.

  • Maintains accountability for personal and delegated decisions, using evidence-based practices, protocols, and organizational values.

  • Seeks supervision or resources when needed to ensure safe and effective care; collaborates to resolve complex issues.

  • Develops, revises, and evaluates individualized care plans that reflect patient goals, preferences, and needs across physical, emotional, social, and spiritual domains.

  • Ensures continuity of care through appropriate interventions, modifying plans based on effectiveness and patient satisfaction.

  • Accurately documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes within established guidelines.

  • Communicates effectively with team members to achieve positive outcomes and satisfaction.

  • Delegates tasks appropriately based on patient needs, staff roles, and competencies, while maintaining accountability for outcomes.

  • Supports professional development of peers through role modeling, feedback, and precepting.

  • What You Bring

    As a Registered Nurse, you’ll bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques and your advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians, and others. You demonstrate the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner. You have an understanding of the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.

    Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program and RN license in the state of Indiana

  • Within 5 years of employment as an RN, obtain a BSN or certification in your area of specialty

  • Surgical/OR experience preferred — however, we offer a comprehensive Perioperative Training Program for nurses with strong interest and passion in developing OR skills
