Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute a proactive media relations strategy aligned with organizational priorities, with a strong focus on healthcare and oncology-related communications.
  • Identify emerging trends, news opportunities, and compelling story angles to increase visibility and strengthen market positioning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media professionals across national, local, and industry-specific outlets.
  • Lead outreach efforts including story pitching, interview coordination, media briefings, and management of inbound press inquiries.
  • Oversee external PR agency partnerships, ensuring alignment on messaging, deliverables, and performance objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop engaging stories related to innovation, clinical advancements, patient impact, and company milestones.
  • Draft and edit press releases, media statements, briefing documents, and communication materials while ensuring message consistency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate external stakeholder participation, including clinicians, advocates, and partners, to support storytelling initiatives and media opportunities.
  • Maintain media-ready assets such as FAQs, fact sheets, spokesperson materials, and background resources to ensure rapid response capabilities.
  • Support executive communications by preparing senior leaders for media engagements, interviews, and visibility opportunities.
  • Travel as needed to support local media initiatives and external communication activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in media relations, corporate communications, or public relations roles.
  • Strong background in healthcare, biotech, life sciences, or related industries, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Proven success securing media coverage across national, regional, and trade publications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in storytelling, media pitching, and development of high-quality press materials.
  • Experience managing external PR agencies and delivering measurable communication outcomes through partnerships.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with reporters, editors, and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with strong attention to detail and message alignment.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, think strategically, and execute with minimal supervision.
  • Strong executive presence, adaptability, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, presentation tools, and digital communication platforms.
