Position Overview

The Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and advancing all environmental, health, and safety programs across assigned operations. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements while driving a proactive safety culture focused on injury prevention, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

This position serves as both a strategic leader and hands-on operational partner—working cross-functionally with operations, quality, maintenance, and human resources to develop, implement, and sustain EHS programs that protect employees, minimize risk, and support business performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead and support EHS programs across plant operations, aligning corporate strategy with site-level execution.
  2. Develop and implement initiatives to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and environmental impact.
  3. Partner with leadership to drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  4. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental agencies.
  5. Implement and coordinate programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, and financial losses.
  6. Identify safety and health hazards associated with business activities.
  7. Develop and Implement Emergency Response Teams at the Plant Level
  8. Ensure all Annualized OHSA training, testing, and reporting is conducted/completed
  9. Plant Oversite for Environmental Reporting to IDEM (Indiana Department of Environmental Management)
  10. Monitor the inspection of company facilities, work environments, machinery, and equipment to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measure have been implemented in conformance with governmental standards.
  11. Oversee periodic environmental and safety inspection audits of the Company’s properties and initiate corrective action to reduce costs and injuries and provide a safe working environment.
  12. Ensure the accuracy of training programs to managers and employees in work site safety and compliance.
  13. Build, develop, and mentor EHS team members; ensure succession planning and bench strength.
  14. Resolve recordability issues, investigating Code of Federal Regulations, consulting experts, and researching OSHA letters of interpretation, to ensure compliance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
  15. Must develop and maintain rapport with employees at all levels of the organization to drive results. Must interface effectively with multiple departments/functions in the plant, as well as Corporate Senior Management.
Requirements:

Job Requirements/Skills

  1. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  2. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  3. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
  4. Working knowledge of industrial operations and manufacturing processes.
  5. Proficient with MS Office Suite

Education/Experience

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent science or technical discipline.
  2. 5+ years’ experience in EH&S Management
  3. Experience with EHS management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001/OHSAS) preferred.
  4. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental regulations.
  5. CSP Certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  1. Travel is required: Employee must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  2. Office Environment. Utilizing an office desk-sitting, reading, listening or speaking with the ability to move frequently throughout the day
  3. Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing and dexterity
  4. Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, and phones
  5. Exposure to physical operations in metal processing facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
