REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to: Community-Based Program Manager Accountable to: Director of Youth and Family Support Services | Senior Clinical Director | Chief Clinical Officer

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position provides strengths-based support to youth who need assistance recognizing, demonstrating, and applying pro-social behaviors in home and community settings. The Therapeutic Mentor spends meaningful time with youth in the community, modeling positive interactions with peers and adults across a variety of social situations. The Therapeutic Mentor also supports youth in developing and practicing essential life skills that promote healthy relationships and build self-confidence.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide therapeutic mentoring and management of an individual caseload
- Engage clients referred to therapeutic mentoring through telephone and face-to-face contact, with most services taking place within community settings
- Teach and reinforce skills such as communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution
- Engage youth using a strength-based approach to build on their existing abilities and interests
- Demonstrate appropriate social skills and foster positive interactions with peers and adults
- Support youth in becoming more independent in social and community settings
- Attend child and family team meetings to collaborate with youth, caregivers, and providers
- Complete all documentation and tracking in a timely manner
- Provide other duties as assigned, required, or specifically negotiated with supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Skill in delivery of rehabilitative services to youth
- Ability to work with youth with a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis
- Knowledge of community resources and/or ability to research and find them
- Knowledge of Therapeutic Mentoring techniques
- Knowledge of healthcare resources including psychiatric, substance use, medical, and/or other services
- Ability to meet people where they are in their recovery; non-judgmental with ability to build rapport quickly
- Ability to work as a team player
- Ability to tolerate ambiguity, uncertainty, and change
- Ability to navigate electronic health records
- Ability to work collaboratively with direct leaders and other clinical staff providing services to persons served
- Ability to provide timely responses to supervisors, persons served, and other clinical staff
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations
- Commitment to ethical standards and continuous professional development

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must minimally meet qualifications of a Rehabilitative Services Associate (RSA)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of automobile insurance coverage required
- Ability to provide services in community-based settings including homes, schools, and community organizations
- This position provides in-person services
