Kootenai Health is a nationally recognized healthcare organization serving northern Idaho and the Inland Northwest. Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting our mission to deliver safe, compassionate, and engaged care. From greeting guests to assisting clinical teams, volunteers help our staff perform at the top of their roles.

We offer two distinct programs:

• Adult Volunteer Program: Open to individuals 18 and older.


• Teen Volunteer Program: Designed for students ages 14–17, with seasonal sessions aligned to the school calendar.

• Build your resume with hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.


• Explore potential career paths in medicine, nursing, and allied health.


• Make a real difference in the lives of patients, families, and staff.

Volunteers serve in a variety of roles across departments, including Guest Services, Pediatrics, Surgery Waiting, and more. Schedules are flexible and tailored to your availability and interests.

• Health screenings (TB, immunizations, flu)


• Background checks


• HIPAA and safety training


• Orientation and department-specific onboarding
