Position Summary:
The Digital Business Systems Manager & Local SAP Project Manager is a key leadership position in the local execution of the Mikado project (transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA), ensuring successful deployment, stabilization (hypercare), and adoption across the plant.
Beyond the SAP migration program, this position serves as the site owner of different digital business systems for manufacturing, ensuring that SAP, MES, PLM (product lifecycle management), and related systems effectively support operational excellence, compliance, and scalability. The role drives continuous improvement of digital processes, data structures, and system integration across Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
This role is responsible for leading and supporting digital transformation initiatives within manufacturing, with a strong focus on business systems, data integrity, and cross-functional integration.
This is a non-people manager role with strong cross-functional leadership responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following :
1. SAP Project Leadership
• Act as the local Mikado Project Manager for the transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA.
• Lead site-level planning, execution, and coordination of project activities in alignment with global timelines, including testing, training and go-live.
• Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders (Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, IT).
• Ensure readiness for deployment including:
• Data validation and migration support
• Process alignment and standardization
• End-user training and adoption
• Lead and support hypercare phase, ensuring stabilization of operations and rapid issue resolution.
• Serve as the primary interface between the plant and corporate project teams.
• Act as the test manager for the site and lead the creation of test scripts.
2. Digital Business Systems Ownership
• Act as site lead for digital business systems supporting manufacturing operations (SAP S/4HANA, MES, PLM integrations).
• Ensure systems are aligned with business needs, compliant with corporate standards, and optimized for performance.
• Own and continuously improve end-to-end system processes across manufacturing, quality, and engineering.
3. Manufacturing Master Data & Data Governance
• Ensure integrity and governance of SAP master data, including:
• Bills of materials (BOMs)
• Routings
• Work centers
• MRP parameters
• Production versions
• Establish and maintain standards for data quality, consistency, and lifecycle management.
• Support data structures required for planning, costing, traceability, and compliance.
4. PLM & Engineering Data Integration
• Support and coordinate PLM-related activities, ensuring proper integration with SAP and manufacturing systems.
• Ensure efficient creation and implementation of plant Quality, Engineering, and data packages per Straumann standards.
• Drive alignment between Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing data flows.
5. Digital Transformation & Continuous Improvement
• Identify and lead initiatives to improve digital processes and system utilization across the plant.
• Drive standardization and automation of workflows where applicable.
• Support implementation of global digital initiatives at the local level.
6. Cross-Functional Leadership
• Provide functional leadership without direct authority across multiple departments.
• Act as a key liaison between Operations, IT, Engineering, Quality, and Corporate teams.
• Influence stakeholders to adopt standardized processes and system solutions.
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing systems, supply chain, or digital transformation
• 3+ years of experience with SAP (preferably S/4HANA), MES, or similar ERP systems
• 3+ years of experience supporting or leading ERP implementations or system migrations
• 3+ years of experience in medical device or other regulated industry
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in large-scale transformation programs (e.g., SAP S/4HANA migration)
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge or certification (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), with ability to apply lean principles to digital processes and system optimization
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (PowerBI, Snowflake)
• Ability to translate complex system/data topics into business insights
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, cross-functional environments
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems and data integration
Physical Attributes:
• May sit for extended periods of time.
• Utilize dexterity abilities to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment, to perform filing, and related job responsibilities and attention to detail competence.
• Spend significant time reading both on paper and on a computer.
Work Environment:
General office and manufacturing environment. May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools.
Salary: $92,000- $112,000/Annually. The final pay for this position will vary based on geographic location and candidate experience relative to what the company reasonably anticipates for this position.
