Part-Time position/PRN (as needed)

PURPOSE:
This part-time, as-needed Shelter Resident Support role at Friends of Switchpoint centers on providing compassionate support to individuals, families, and veterans experiencing homelessness while promoting self-sufficiency through the organization’s values of kindness, connection, and self-reliance. Key responsibilities include client intake and assessments, daily supervision, documentation, and enforcing community guidelines, along with maintaining safety and security through regular checks and crisis intervention. The role also supports shelter operations such as meal coordination, light housekeeping, volunteer supervision, and meeting residents’ daily needs. Staff are expected to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries while delivering excellent customer service and fostering a safe, structured environment.
Additionally, staff are responsible for answering and documenting all telephone calls and activities per policy, reviewing communication logs at the start of each shift, and promptly reporting any suspected neglect or abuse to the supervisor. A background check will be required for this position.
Requirements:Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement switchpoint’s mission and values and adhere to all policies andprocedures
- Provide exceptional customer service to all guests of the facility
- Keep a daily log of all occurrences within the facility for each shift
- Make notes of any special requirements and needs that residents may have (special diets, ada accomidations, etc.) And coordinate with management to facilitate those needs.
- Update maintenance log with maintenance requests
- Arrange transportation for residents in shuttle vans
- Actively listen to the needs of the residents and act to meet those needs appropriately.
- Report any resident concerns to case management and management.
- Simple cleaning (public bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, etc.)
- Assist with convenience store transactions
- Monitor cameras and log activity
- Complete perimeter checks around the building and walk-throughs in the building to ensure the safety and security of residents. Log and document any concerns.
- Handle security issues/complaints by involving either non-emergency dispatch or 911 for emergency services
- Other duties as assigned.
- This is a part-time position with no set schedule and on a as needed basis.
Compensation:
Starting wage: $16/hour
Part-Time position /PRN (as needed)
