Senior Staff Accountant Details
Essential Job Duties:
- Maintains general ledger and reports monthly for all UHS entities.
- Prepares monthly general and standard journal entries for all UHS entities.
- Assists with timely monthly financial statements and comparative reports and could include monthly review of financial reports.
- Assists independent auditors with interim and year-end audit.
- Keeps informed of all government and FASB regulations and procedures affecting Hospital finance and accounting procedures.
- Prepares supporting workpapers to substantiate the expense accounts for all UHS entities.
- Analyzes and interprets data to determine trends and significant variances affecting financial and operational management for all UHS entities.
- Assists with maintaining established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Maintains required records, reports, and files.
- Attends Inservice and other meetings as required and participates on committees as required.
- Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, workshops, conferences, etc., to keep abreast of the field.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- Duties could include preparing and maintaining information for hospital agreements, including professional service agreements.
- Duties could include keeping records of fixed assets and maintaining reports related to fixed assets and depreciation.
- Duties could include maintaining restricted funds and working with Union Hospital Foundation as well as with other donors.
- Duties could include maintaining leases and records of appropriate entries.
- Duties could include assisting in the preparation of Federal form 990 reports to file federal, state, and other regulatory reports (annual tax returns, 990, 1120, etc.) for all UHS entities and could include preparing 941 filing along with tax payments to state and federal assessment.
- Duties could include assisting with W-2 adjustments for calendar year end reporting.
- Duties could include reconciling cash accounts.
- Duties could include reconciling PR withholding amounts to PR liability accounts on the books.
Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university with a degree in accounting is required.
- Substantial experience using spread sheets and database management.
