Job Description

Shopify Solution Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Shopify Solution Architect based in United States.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Shopify architect to lead complex enterprise commerce transformations from strategy through implementation and optimization.
You will partner directly with enterprise brands to understand their business objectives, technical ecosystems, and long-term commerce needs.
The role combines client advisory, solution architecture, pre-sales, technical leadership, and hands-on contribution when required.
You will design scalable Shopify Plus solutions that integrate seamlessly with ERP, OMS, PIM, fulfillment, payment, CRM, marketing, and other enterprise platforms.
Working alongside sales, project management, business analysis, design, and engineering teams, you will turn complex requirements into practical technical strategies.
You will also help shape project scope, identify risks, guide implementation decisions, and ensure high-quality technical delivery.
This role is ideal for a technically strong Shopify professional who enjoys solving complex commerce challenges while influencing both business and technology decisions.

Accountabilities
  • Provide eCommerce strategy, technical guidance, and architectural leadership for enterprise brands evaluating or transitioning to Shopify Plus.
  • Lead discovery sessions with clients and stakeholders to understand business objectives, existing commerce ecosystems, technical requirements, dependencies, and risks.
  • Design scalable Shopify architectures and determine how Shopify should integrate with ERP, OMS, PIM, inventory, fulfillment, CRM, marketing, payment, tax, and other enterprise systems.
  • Partner with sales and account teams during pre-sales activities, helping scope opportunities, assess technical feasibility, define solutions, and communicate technical tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, designers, developers, and clients to translate requirements into clear technical architectures and implementation plans.
  • Architect and implement custom Shopify themes, features, applications, integrations, and third-party services aligned with client requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the full engagement lifecycle, from discovery, estimation, and planning through development, launch, and ongoing optimization.
  • Conduct code reviews, establish coding standards, and promote Shopify development best practices across projects.
  • Identify technical challenges, dependencies, and implementation risks early, developing practical solutions that improve project outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance to development teams and contribute hands-on when deeper technical involvement is required.
  • Stay current with Shopify platform capabilities, releases, eCommerce trends, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders, communicating complex architecture decisions and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience developing and customizing Shopify-based eCommerce solutions, preferably within an agency, consulting, or enterprise implementation environment.
  • Significant experience with Shopify Plus and enterprise eCommerce implementations is required.
  • Strong understanding of Shopify platform architecture, including themes, Liquid, APIs, app development, integrations, and customization.
  • Strong front-end development expertise across HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, and modern web development practices.
  • Demonstrated experience designing solutions that connect Shopify with broader enterprise technology ecosystems and third-party platforms.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to development teams and guiding engineers through complex implementation decisions.
  • Ability to participate effectively in client discovery, requirements gathering, solution design, project estimation, and pre-sales conversations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility with executives, technical leaders, business stakeholders, and delivery teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of diagnosing complex technical challenges and developing effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, project management tools, and modern version control practices.
  • Strong client focus, collaboration skills, technical judgment, and ability to balance business objectives with scalable technical solutions.
  • Shopify certifications, such as Shopify Plus Certified or Shopify App Developer Certification, are a plus.
Benefits
  • Remote work anywhere in the United States.
  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Choice of 35- or 40-hour work weeks.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Bonus incentive opportunities.
  • Employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance.
  • HSA plan options.
  • Higher-limit SIMPLE IRA plan with a 3% company match.
  • Employer-paid life insurance.
  • Paid holidays and paid time off.
  • Paid maternity leave.
  • Paid paternity leave.
  • Paid bereavement leave.
  • Paid natural disaster leave.
  • Company-provided laptop.
