Job Description
CSS is hiring an HVAC Technician in Merritt Island, FL. This is a field service technician position responsible for providing both HVAC preventive and reactive maintenance across eight commercial properties totaling approximately 800,000 SF. This role requires regular operation of a company vehicle and strict adherence to all CSS safety and driving standards.
Duties:
• Perform maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, including industrial cooling systems, water‑cooled and air‑cooled chillers, split systems, and packaged systems.
• Install new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
• Follow instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform job functions under immediate supervision.
• Maintain safe, professional, and compliant conduct at all times while operating CSS vehicles and traveling between sites.
Responsibilities:
• Provide effective and efficient maintenance and basic service repairs for HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance per manufacturer schedules and maintenance instruction manuals.
• Operate a company vehicle daily to travel between assigned properties; comply with all CSS driving and vehicle‑use policies, including safe driving, passenger safety, and immediate reporting of any incidents.
• Utilize company‑provided tools and equipment safely and appropriately.
• Interact and cooperate effectively with customers, contracted services personnel, and building staff.
• Perform duties in a highly integrated team environment while maintaining professional conduct in all field settings.
• Assist in maintaining up‑to‑date files, equipment specifications, and maintenance logs.
• Respond to building emergencies as directed.
• Represent CSS professionally while on client sites and while operating company vehicles.
Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of experience with HVAC services, including industrial cooling systems, water‑cooled and air‑cooled chillers, split systems, and packaged systems.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and read digital meters and voltage testers.
• Understanding of basic electrical and wiring in a commercial building setting.
• Ability to work at heights using lifts, scaffolding, and ladders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical ability to regularly stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Ability to lift and move 25 to 100 pounds and work both indoors and outdoors.
• Prior industrial environment experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience.
• Valid EPA Universal Certification required.
• Additional certifications may be required.
• Must possess and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record, as this role requires daily operation of a CSS vehicle.
• Demonstrated ability to follow safety guidelines and exercise sound judgment while working independently in the field.
• Must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screen in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and CSS policies.
