Welder I ( Sub) in at HENNIG INC

As a Welder I – Sub Welder, you will develop foundational welding and fabrication skills while performing sub-weld operations. You will learn to set up welding equipment, locate and interpret fabrication prints, measure and position components, perform common weld types, prepare and fit parts, identify weld discontinuities, and complete weld repairs.

· Set up welding equipment to required specifications, including changing welding gas and wire as needed.

· Access, read, and interpret sub-weld fabrication prints to determine weld type, location, and length.

· Measure components accurately using standard inches and metric millimeters.

· Use levels and squares to verify component location, fit-up, and alignment to specification.

· Perform common welding applications, including fillet welds and short vertical-down welds.

· Tack, bevel, fit, and prepare components for welding operations.

· Clean and finish welds and sub-weldments according to established requirements.

· Locate and identify materials required for assigned production jobs.

· Identify common weld discontinuities and recognize weld conditions requiring correction.

· Fit up legs and ends with limited assistance as proficiency increases.

· Identify missing components and follow established processes to obtain replacement parts.

· Verify sheet-metal dimensions and part numbers prior to use.

· Perform weld repairs associated with sub-welding operations.

· Operate crane equipment after completing required training and certification to position sub-weld components.

· Complete required production documentation and work sign-off processes.

· Perform assigned sub-welding operations within established takt-time requirements.

· Safely operate crane equipment after completing required training.

· Maintain awareness of forklift and crane operations and follow designated aisles, work zones, and storage areas.

· Safely operate power and hand tools, measuring devices, and work-center equipment, and maintain proper tool storage in accordance with 5S requirements.

· Use required welding PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, aprons, and other work-center-specific protective equipment.

· Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.

· Work safely around forklifts, cranes, production aisles, work zones, and material storage areas.

· Understand and follow established quality standards and workmanship requirements.

Requirements:

· Education: High School Diploma/GED required

· Certifications: D1.1 Flat certification within 30 days of starting position

· Experience: 1-3 years trade training/experience as a MIG welder and one year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment required

· Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English
