Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting based in United States.
This is a hands-on leadership role owning technical revenue accounting in a rapidly scaling, AI-focused technology environment.
You will shape revenue processes, systems, and controls as the organization integrates multiple acquisitions and expands its enterprise platform.
The role combines technical accounting judgment with operational ownership across quote-to-cash, deal desk support, revenue close, and audit readiness.
You will advise Sales and Legal on complex contracts while ensuring revenue treatment is accurate, scalable, and compliant with ASC 606.
You will also help modernize accounting workflows through AI-enabled automation and process improvements.
Reporting to the Controller, you will manage and develop a revenue accounting team while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
This opportunity is suited to a technically strong accounting leader who enjoys building structure in a fast-moving SaaS environment.
Own technical revenue accounting analysis for new and non-standard contracts, including ASC 606 performance obligations, standalone selling price assessments, variable consideration, and technical accounting memos.
Provide real-time revenue guidance through deal desk participation, partnering with Sales and Legal on complex contracts, pricing structures, and hybrid commercial models.
Lead revenue treatment and billing integration for acquired businesses, including transitions from legacy systems into NetSuite and integration of marketplace-based billing models.
Own the end-to-end quote-to-cash process across Salesforce, CPQ, NetSuite, billing, and payment platforms, improving data flows and operational handoffs with Revenue Operations.
Lead the monthly revenue close, including deferred revenue reconciliations, deferred commission accounting under ASC 340-40, and credit loss analysis.
Manage the revenue component of external audits, preparing technical memos, workpapers, supporting documentation, and sample selections to meet rigorous audit standards.
Develop scalable revenue processes and controls that support business growth, acquisitions, multi-entity operations, and increasingly complex billing models.
Identify and implement AI-enabled workflows for technical memo preparation, reconciliations, reporting, exception identification, and other recurring accounting activities.
Manage and develop the revenue accounting team, currently including one direct report, while establishing strong execution standards and supporting professional growth.
Monitor the accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness of revenue processes and identify opportunities to improve quote-to-cash efficiency and system reliability.
6+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience with hands-on application of ASC 606, preferably within SaaS or subscription-based business models.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
CPA credential strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience with ASC 340-40 deferred commission accounting and complex revenue recognition considerations.
Experience providing deal desk or real-time revenue guidance for non-standard contracts and commercial arrangements.
Hands-on familiarity with quote-to-cash systems, including Salesforce, NetSuite, and CPQ or billing platforms such as Nue, Zuora, or Chargebee.
External audit experience, including technical accounting memo development and workpaper preparation aligned with Big Four or national accounting firm standards.
Experience working across multiple legal entities and navigating complex operational and accounting structures.
Experience using AI tools to improve technical accounting, reconciliation, reporting, or other finance workflows, with the ability to develop practical AI-enabled processes.
Previous people management experience or clear readiness to lead and develop a technical accounting team.
Strong judgment, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to translate technical accounting conclusions into practical business decisions.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and proactively build scalable processes rather than relying solely on existing structures.
A collaborative, thoughtful approach to working with cross-functional teams and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
Experience integrating revenue systems following acquisitions, working with tiered or variable pricing, or supporting complex billing models is a strong advantage.
Experience combining Big Four or national accounting firm rigor with in-house SaaS operational experience is highly valued.
Exposure to AI, open-source, data science, or machine-learning businesses is beneficial.
Base salary of $157,500–$204,000 for candidates in New York City and San Francisco.
Base salary of $118,000–$170,000 for other U.S.-based team members.
Annual bonus potential and equity participation.
Fully remote work environment with flexible hours.
Flexible vacation policy.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
Paid parental leave.
Monthly wellness stipend.
Employee Assistance Program and mental health resources.
Opportunity to work on products and technologies shaping enterprise data science, machine learning, and AI.
Collaborative environment emphasizing clarity, care, candor, employee development, and diverse perspectives.
Compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors.
