Position Summary

The Riders Coach is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and professional motorcycle riding experiences for guests and supporting dealership staff in improving riding skills, safety awareness, and guest engagement. This role conducts test rides, ride-alongs, and basic rider coaching while ensuring all Harley-Davidson brand standards and safety protocols are followed. The ideal candidate is an experienced motorcyclist with strong communication skills and a passion for rider safety and education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct safe and structured motorcycle test rides for customers.
• Provide basic rider coaching and guidance during test rides and ride-along experiences.
• Ensure all guests meet licensing, safety, and dealership requirements before riding.
• Inspect motorcycles before and after rides for safety, condition, and readiness.
• Support sales staff in delivering a premium Harley-Davidson riding experience.
• Demonstrate proper riding techniques, controls, and safety practices when needed.
• Assist in organizing group rides, demo events, and dealership riding activities.
• Communicate clearly with guests regarding ride expectations, safety rules, and routes.
• Monitor rider performance and intervene when safety concerns arise.
• Maintain accurate records of test rides, guest participation, and demo usage.
• Ensure all demo motorcycles are clean, fueled, and properly maintained.
• Follow all dealership, insurance, and manufacturer safety policies and procedures.
• Report mechanical or safety issues with motorcycles immediately to management.
• Support a strong safety-first culture within the dealership riding program.

Qualifications

• Strong motorcycle riding ability with valid motorcycle endorsement (required).
• Excellent knowledge of motorcycle safety practices and riding techniques.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with riders of varying skill levels and experience.
• Professional demeanor with a guest-focused attitude.
• Ability to make quick, safe decisions in dynamic riding environments.
• Familiarity with Harley-Davidson motorcycles preferred.
• Strong situational awareness and responsibility mindset.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2–5 years of motorcycle riding experience required.
• Prior experience in rider coaching, motorcycle instruction, or dealership test ride coordination preferred.
• Experience with Harley-Davidson motorcycles or brand familiarity is a plus.
• Motorcycle safety certification (such as MSF Instructor training) preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely operate motorcycles for extended periods.
• Strong balance, coordination, and physical control required.
• Ability to lift, move, and stabilize motorcycles when necessary.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity in dealership and riding environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and while riding (hand signals or communication devices).

Work Environment

Active Harley-Davidson dealership environment with frequent motorcycle riding, outdoor exposure, and guest interaction. Work involves exposure to traffic, weather conditions, engine noise, and physical riding demands. Occasional evening, weekend, and event-based hours are required.
