Job Description
This position is mainly garbage collection mid-May through mid-September and a variety of other Public Work functions and duties as assigned the other months. Tentative hours are 4:00am to 12:00am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and 6:00am to 2:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Possibility of some over-time including on weekends and holidays as needed. This position offers a full benefit package including Wisconsin State Retirement, paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays and generous health insurance benefits.

EQUIPMENT USED:

- Operates garbage truck.
- Collection of garbage containers.
- Cleans and provides routine inspection and preventive maintenance on vehicle and equipment.
- Respond to citizen questions at curbside.
- Assists with snow removal as needed.
- Assists with street repairs as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s license.
- Valid CDL Certification.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Motorized vehicles including a Garbage Truck.
- Shovels and brooms.
- Hand tools such as hammers, wrenches and screwdrivers.
- Power tools including saws and sanders.
- Chainsaws.
- Material handling equipment
- Snow plow.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to set up proper basic work zone traffic control.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
