Job Description
At Piedmont Crossing, our Dining Services team plays a vital role in enhancing residents' quality of life by providing exceptional dining experiences in a welcoming and hospitable environment. Under the direction of the Dining Leadership Team, the Dining Services Assistant performs a variety of food service, meal preparation, sanitation, and customer service functions that support the health, satisfaction, and well-being of our residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepares dining areas and assists with the serving of meals to residents, working independently or as part of a team.
- Provides post-meal services, including collecting trays and transporting them to designated cleaning areas.
- Operates dishwashing and sanitation equipment; hand washes items as needed.
- Returns clean dishes, utensils, and food service equipment to appropriate storage areas.
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, tables, cabinets, and food preparation equipment.
- Stores food, supplies, and equipment according to department procedures.
- Prepares and assembles food items for regular and modified diets as directed.
- Follows all safety, fire, infection control, and sanitation procedures.
- Assists with food preparation, including salads, baked goods, and other menu items, using safe food handling practices and appropriate quantity calculations.
- Participates in meal preparation activities under the supervision of the Cook, Chef, or Dining Services Manager.
- Utilizes visual observation and color recognition to identify proper cooking completion, food quality, spoilage, or contamination.
- Assists with inventory management, stocking, and retrieval of food and supply items needed for meal preparation.
- Performs general cleaning duties throughout kitchen, dietary, and serving areas, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing, polishing, and trash removal.
- Maintains required records and follows established procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, inspections, and surveys.
- Demonstrates a commitment to excellent customer service by creating positive interactions with residents, guests, and team members consistent with Piedmont Crossing's values and culture.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices preferred.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform routine cleaning and food preparation tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods as required by the position.
