Job Description

Software Engineer (Data Systems/ETL)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer (Data Systems/ETL) based in India.

This is a mid-level software engineering opportunity focused on the reliability, performance, and daily operation of critical data systems and billing workflows. You will work extensively with high-volume datasets, cloud data warehouses, SQL, Python, and end-to-end ETL pipelines. The role offers meaningful ownership of data processing systems while also providing opportunities to contribute to broader cloud and platform engineering initiatives. You will troubleshoot complex processing issues, optimize data workflows, and help ensure reliable delivery of business-critical information. Beyond data engineering, you will contribute to APIs, cloud security, containerized services, and modern development practices. Working remotely with distributed teams across time zones, you will have the opportunity to make a direct impact in a collaborative and technically diverse environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Monitor and support the daily operation of the billing engine, proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving data and processing issues.
  • Develop, review, and optimize SQL queries and data-processing workflows operating on high-volume datasets, including environments processing tens of millions of records per day.
  • Maintain and enhance end-to-end ETL pipelines, covering data validation, transformation, processing, and loading stages.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement performance improvements across data-processing jobs and pipeline components.
  • Develop and maintain Python code supporting ETL workflows, data processing, automation, and related engineering activities.
  • Document data flows, processing logic, operational procedures, and known issues to improve team continuity and knowledge sharing.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of GraphQL interfaces and other platform-level APIs.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of security safeguards across cloud environments.
  • Support and troubleshoot applications and services operating within container orchestration environments and other cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Participate actively in code reviews while following established software engineering, data-handling, testing, and version-control standards.
  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore colleagues across multiple time zones and participate regularly in team standups and other team activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5–7+ years of professional software development experience, ideally with exposure to both front-end and back-end engineering.
  • Professional experience with AWS Redshift or a comparable high-volume cloud data warehouse and ETL environment.
  • Strong SQL skills and practical experience working with large-scale datasets and data-processing workflows.
  • Working proficiency in Python, particularly for data processing, automation, or ETL development.
  • Experience with at least one major public cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, APIs, testing, version control, and maintainable code practices.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned features and technical problems while collaborating effectively within a distributed team.
  • Comfort incorporating AI-assisted coding tools into everyday development workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and time zones.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a structured and analytical approach to technical challenges.
  • Good to have: experience with GraphQL or modern API technologies, cloud security or compliance features, multiple cloud platforms, customer-facing products or portals, and agentic AI coding pipelines.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote working arrangement within India.
  • Monday to Friday working schedule, from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM IST.
  • 30 days of total leave per calendar year.
  • Annual public holidays as applicable.
  • Mediclaim/health insurance coverage.
  • Lifestyle Rewards Program.
  • Group Term Life Insurance.
  • Gratuity benefits.
  • Additional employee benefits and perks.
  • Opportunity to work on high-volume data systems and business-critical technology.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, modern APIs, containerized services, AI-assisted development, and data engineering technologies.
  • Collaborative environment with distributed teams and opportunities for professional growth.
