Since its founding in 1976, Hope Christian School has prayed for, equipped, and sent nearly 3,000 graduates to change the world. Annually, Hope Christian School educates approximately 1,400 students from Preschool through 12th grade. Job Summary: The Middle School Teacher Aide – PE & Athletics Support provides student supervision, Physical Education program assistance, and administrative support for Middle School athletics. A primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the designated crossing guard for Middle School students traveling between the Middle School and High School campuses.

When not performing crossing or student supervision responsibilities, the position supports 6th–8th grade PE teachers, assists the Middle School Athletic Director, and provides classroom aide support as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Student Crossing & Safety

  • Serve as the designated crossing guard for students traveling between the Middle School and High School campuses.
  • Provide crossing supervision during scheduled PE transitions, passing periods, before and after school, and other assigned student movement periods.
  • Safely assist students in crossing designated streets, crosswalks, parking areas, and campus transition points.
  • Monitor vehicle and pedestrian activity and help maintain safe and orderly traffic flow in accordance with school procedures.
  • Remain alert to changing traffic conditions, unsafe behavior, and other potential hazards that may impact student safety.
  • Provide clear, courteous, and appropriate direction to students and others during assigned crossing periods.
  • Coordinate with PE teachers to ensure consistent supervision of students traveling between campuses.
  • Immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, suspicious activity, or other safety concerns to school security, PE Department Head or school administration.
  • Assist administration during safety or emergency situations as directed.
  • Maintain consistent and timely coverage during all assigned crossing periods.

Physical Education Support

  • Assist 6th, 7th, and 8th grade PE teachers with student supervision and classroom management.
  • Support student transitions to and from PE classes, the gymnasium, athletic fields, nurse office and other activity areas.
  • Assist with setting up, distributing, collecting, organizing, and storing PE equipment.
  • Provide additional supervision during PE activities and reinforce established student expectations.
  • Assist with PE activities, events, and other departmental needs as assigned.

Middle School Athletics Support

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Middle School Athletic Director.
  • Assist with coordinating practices, games, tournaments, and athletic schedules.
  • Help communicate schedules, changes, and other athletic information to coaches and staff.
  • Assist with ordering, organizing, distributing, and tracking uniforms, equipment, and athletic supplies.
  • Assist with team schedules, rosters, equipment records, and other athletic documentation as assigned.
  • Assist with game-day preparation, facility coordination, and other Middle School athletic program needs.

Classroom & General Middle School Support

  • Provide classroom aide support to Middle School teachers as assigned.
  • Assist with student supervision, classroom activities, instructional materials, and classroom organization when needed.
  • Support student supervision during passing periods, lunch, assemblies, special events, and other school activities.
  • Assist with other Middle School operational or student support needs as assigned.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position as directed by the PE Department Head or Middle School administration.
Requirements:
  • Have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and demonstrate a lifestyle consistent with the school's mission to honor Christ.
  • Agree with and support the school's Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Philosophy of Education.
  • Cooperate with school administration in implementing school policies, procedures, and directives.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • Previous experience working with middle school-aged students preferred.
  • Strong commitment to student safety, supervision, and well-being.
  • Ability to remain attentive and exercise sound judgment in environments involving student and vehicle traffic.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, coaches, administrators, students, and families.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Successful completion of required background checks and child safety training.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while supervising student crossings.
  • Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness of students, vehicles, and surrounding conditions.
  • Ability to regularly walk between the Middle School and High School campuses.
  • Ability to lift, carry, set up, and store PE and athletic equipment as needed.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
