The Building Maintenance Worker, General plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, appearance, and functionality of campus facilities. This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and general maintenance work across a variety of trades, including basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and custodial support. The successful candidate will demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to addressing facility-related needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance duties, including painting, patching, and minor repairs to walls, doors, windows, and fixtures.
• Assist with basic plumbing and electrical tasks, such as unclogging drains, replacing light bulbs, and repairing switches or outlets.
• Respond to and complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Support event setups and breakdowns, including moving furniture and equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of assigned areas to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in clean and safe condition.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Provide assistance during inclement weather, including snow and ice removal.
• Assist other skilled trades staff as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation and be available for after-hours emergencies or university closures.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in general building maintenance or related field.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions—including rain, sleet, or snow—and be available during various holidays and weekends as scheduled or needed.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds and perform physical labor, including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
