Job Description

QA Automation Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Automation Engineer based in Switzerland.

Join a remote-first, international product team building a technology platform designed to make global employment simpler and more accessible. As a QA Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality across new features, integrations, and frequent releases. You’ll work within a cross-functional squad alongside Product, Design, Front-End, Back-End, and QA professionals. The role combines hands-on automation with functional and regression testing, requirements review, and proactive defect prevention. You’ll also use AI-powered tools to accelerate test creation while applying your own judgment to validate their quality and accuracy. This is an environment where ownership, continuous learning, and strong asynchronous collaboration are highly valued.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain automated tests covering new product features and regression scenarios.
  • Perform functional, integration, and regression testing to ensure application behavior meets requirements, using manual testing when appropriate.
  • Identify, document, triage, and track defects from discovery through resolution.
  • Help reduce the number of defects discovered by end users by strengthening QA coverage and prevention practices.
  • Contribute to keeping QA activities efficient and minimizing their impact on release timelines.
  • Use AI-assisted development and testing tools to accelerate test generation while critically reviewing and validating AI-generated output.
  • Participate in requirements reviews and provide a QA perspective to identify potential quality risks early.
  • Take increasing ownership of the quality strategy and test coverage for your assigned product squad.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Software Development, or a related technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright or a comparable automated testing framework.
  • Strong coding skills and the ability to write efficient, maintainable automated tests.
  • Practical experience with API testing and test automation.
  • Familiarity with issue tracking and version control tools, ideally Jira and Git.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly within remote and asynchronous teams.
  • Experience creating and maintaining manual testing plans is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants and an interest in developing a disciplined workflow for AI-assisted test generation.
  • Experience working with SaaS products or custom-built software is preferred.
  • Understanding of agile development practices and frequent release cycles.
  • Awareness of QA-related DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and testing infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of web application development concepts.
  • Self-directed, curious, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to seek feedback and continuously develop.
  • A quality-first mindset and genuine interest in test automation and software quality.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary.
  • Fully remote-first working environment.
  • Asynchronous collaboration designed to support distributed teams across different time zones.
  • Flexibility to work from abroad for a limited period.
  • Opportunities for professional development, career progression, and internal growth.
  • Necessary hardware provided to help you succeed from day one.
  • Opportunity to work with modern AI-powered tools and build expertise in AI-assisted software testing.
  • International and diverse working environment with colleagues across multiple regions.
  • Supportive culture focused on ownership, learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
