Job Description

Why Backwoods

Backwoods Energy Services is a 100% Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation-owned company providing construction, maintenance, and operational support services across Western Canada.

We are currently looking for a dependable and safety-focused Fuel & Site Support Operator to join our team at the Dow facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

This is a site-based position operating within the facility and is not a long-haul or bulk fuel delivery role. If you enjoy hands-on work, working around heavy equipment, and being part of a team that keeps site operations moving safely and efficiently, this may be a great fit.

The Role

As a Fuel & Site Support Operator, your primary responsibility will be operating a fuel truck throughout the site to keep trucks, heavy equipment, and other equipment fueled and ready for work.

When fueling requirements are complete, you will support the site by maintaining fuel tanks and fueling areas, completing general housekeeping, and assisting with other site-support activities as required.

This role requires someone who is safety-conscious, dependable, comfortable working independently, and willing to pitch in wherever needed.

What you'll do

  • Safely operate a fuel truck throughout the Dow Fort Saskatchewan facility.
  • Fuel trucks, heavy equipment, and other designated equipment as required.
  • Complete routine inspections of the fuel truck, tanks, hoses, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Monitor fuel levels and communicate fueling requirements to site supervision.
  • Follow established fueling, spill prevention, environmental, and site procedures.
  • Keep fuel tanks, fueling areas, and surrounding work areas clean and organized.
  • Identify and immediately report spills, leaks, equipment concerns, or unsafe conditions.
  • Complete required vehicle, fueling, inspection, and site documentation.
  • Work safely around moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and active site operations.
  • Assist with general site housekeeping and other site-support duties when fueling activities are complete.
  • Follow all Backwoods, client, and site-specific health and safety requirements.
What You'll Bring
  • A valid Class 3 Driver's Licence with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Valid TDG, WHMIS, Standard First Aid, CSTS-20, and H2S Alive certifications.
  • Ability to meet all Company and client site-access requirements is mandatory.
    • These requirements may include pre-access drug and alcohol testing, site orientations, safety training, and other project-specific requirements.
  • Experience working around heavy equipment or within an industrial, construction, or similar site environment is required, previous fuel truck experience is considered an asset.
  • Dependability and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to complete general housekeeping and hands-on site-support duties.
  • A strong commitment to safe work practices and following established procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.=
