Open Position: Safety Manager

Overview:

Manage the EHS program at the field level for 5 of our 10 Branches in the NC, SC and VA area. This would include documented site visits, training and coaching of the field staff. You would report to the Safety Director.

Responsibilities:

  • On-site Inspections and Safety Audits
  • Ensure project safety adherence, performance and compliance.
  • Review project site forms and data.
  • Help all to perform JHA and Safety Observations.
  • Ensures all subcontractors are following OSHA and PSG policies at a minimum.
  • Monitor the performance of safety critical tasks.
  • Work with the Contractor to ensure proper safety best practices are being implemented.
  • Represent PSG’s best interest always related to site health and safety.
  • Follows up on safety incidents, near misses and conduct investigations.
  • Conduct Safety Orientation for personnel as needed.
  • Provide training in areas such as Forklift, Scissor lifts, Fall protection and CPR.

  • Ability to maintain industry knowledge and stay up to date on safety related developments

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate objects, tools or controls. Frequently required to stand, talk and hear for long periods of time. Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the day with walking, standing, bending, and reaching.
  • This position may require employee to sit at a computer station/desk for prolonged periods of time up to 8 hours a day.
  • The employee is regularly required to read, count and write to accurately complete documentation required for position.
  • Driving/travel will be required for this position.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety related field or this may be substituted for 7 years’ experience and a certification such as the CHST.
  • 7+ experience in a Full-Time Safety Professional role.
  • Experience within the Construction Industry is a must.
  • Having an OSHA 500 is a plus. Authorized Osha instructor for Construction.
  • Must have at least an OSHA 30 hour for construction.
  • Experience within General Industry is a plus.
  • HVAC experience is a plus.
  • Must be FA/CPR/AED certified.
  • CPR instructor is a plus.
  • Must possess exemplary communication skills - both oral and written
  • Vibrant, optimistic, energetic positive person who wants to make things happen.
  • Team player that can work with the leadership team, all personnel, and interact well with clients.
  • Must not only be able to recognize hazards but be able to find and implement solutions.
  • Valid Driver’s License and MVR check.
  • Criminal Justice Background Check (state and federal)
  • Drug Test (10-panel)
  • E-Verify
  • Ideally the candidate would live in the Greensboro NC area.
