Job Description
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting electrical systems used in Russells Technical Products’ custom and standard environmental test chambers.
This position works closely with Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Production, Test, Service, and Project Management to develop safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions. The Electrical Engineer will support projects from the initial design stage through manufacturing, testing, installation, and customer service.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working with both custom one-of-a-kind equipment and standard chamber designs and is comfortable moving between engineering design work and the production floor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Design and develop electrical systems for custom and standard environmental test chambers.
2. Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of material, and related engineering documentation.
3. Select appropriate electrical components, including controls, sensors, relays, contactors, breakers, disconnects, transformers, motors, and other electrical devices.
4. Design control panels and electrical systems while considering safety, functionality, reliability, cost, and ease of manufacturing.
5. Review customer specifications and project requirements and translate them into practical electrical designs.
6. Work with Mechanical Engineering and Cabinet Design to ensure electrical components and systems properly integrate with the chamber design.
7. Support the development and improvement of standard chamber electrical designs.
8. Develop custom electrical solutions for unique customer applications.
9. Review drawings and engineering documents for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
10. Assist with electrical troubleshooting during assembly, testing, installation, and service.
11. Work directly with production and test personnel to resolve electrical issues and answer technical questions.
12. Participate in design reviews and project meetings.
13. Provide technical support to Field Service personnel when needed.
14. Assist with customer technical questions related to electrical systems and chamber operation.
15. Research electrical components, codes, standards, and new technologies as needed.
16. Assist with electrical component selection and supplier coordination.

Salary $85,000 to $115,000 per year
Requirements:REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
2. Experience with electrical design, controls, or industrial equipment is preferred.
3. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
4. Experience using electrical design or engineering software, preferably Inventor.
5. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
6. Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
7. Ability to communicate clearly with employees at all levels of the organization.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Experience designing electrical systems for industrial equipment or machinery.
2. Experience with environmental test chambers or similar equipment.
3. Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems.
4. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
5. Experience with UL 508A and industrial control panels.
6. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable electrical safety standards.
7. Experience with 480V three-phase electrical systems.
8. Experience with motor controls, VFDs, heaters, refrigeration systems, pumps, fans, and other industrial equipment.
9. Experience with electrical panel design and layout.
10. Experience troubleshooting electrical systems using a multimeter and other electrical test equipment.
11. Experience supporting equipment through manufacturing, testing, installation, and field service.
12. Experience working with both standard products and highly customized equipment.
