Job Title: Production Team Leader

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Supervisor

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Purpose: Under the general direction of the Production Supervisor, the Team Leader will oversee, schedule, manage, and prioritize the daily production issues in their particular area of the plant and lead the production team to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations while promoting a team environment.

Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Maintain adherence to safety guidelines
  • Understanding of HL Mando Policies (attendance, safety, quality, etc)
  • Enforce, maintain, and foster Quality Policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform hard gage checks and adjust machines (fixtures, programs) accordingly
  • Ability to perform tool changes on all assigned lines including Broach changes
  • General understanding of tool setting procedures
  • Ability to identify bad parts by visual inspection and perform corrections
  • Proper working knowledge of MEPS system (downtime, Ekanban, inventory management, etc)
  • Must know all carrier parts and part numbers machined in CBS
  • Must know where each carrier parts are capable of being machined
  • Compliance with work standards as well as Team Leader daily standard work
  • Troubleshoot repairing ability of in storage and out storage
  • Troubleshooting ability for coolant tanks to minimize FTT issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine and automation alarms
  • Maintain and drive 5S expectations
  • Foster continuous improvement in your team
  • Must be familiar with all tool changes in all assigned lines
  • Verify tool change dimensions for CNC techs and operators
  • Maintain and drive process checks and verification
  • Ability to perform changeover from one carrier model to another
  • Complete end of shift scrap reports daily for all Housing lines
  • Maintain training records
  • Ability to train CNC techs and Operators
  • Key performance indicators (KPI’s) such as:
    1. Safety
    2. Quality
    3. OEE (overall equipment efficiency)

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • At least one year warehouse experience is required
  • Forklift operation experience is strongly preferred

Legal Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Working Conditions:

  • Constant manufacturing floor and occasional office setting work
  • Frequent exposure to noise, moving machinery, frequent exposure to chemicals and energized equipment
  • Occasional exposure to uneven surfaces (stairs and platforms)
  • Constant requirement of PPE use (Safety shoes / safety glasses), frequent requirement of hearing protection
  • Frequent use of hand tools or tools used in assembly process
  • Constant shift work, occasional weekends/OT
  • Frequent exposure to hot work areas, and environmental and safety regulated work (Electrical, LOTO)

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, occasional sitting
  • Frequent lifting, carrying up to 20 lbs. occasional lifting, carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent gripping, pinching, tool use occasional keyboarding
  • Constant use of vision, speech and hearing
  • Constant need to work in warehouse environment subject to external temperatures.

Compensation and Benefits: Compensation for hourly positions is determined according to standardized wage table. Benefits package includes health, dental & vision insurance, life insurance and other supplemental benefits, 401(K) plan, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
