Machine Operator in Sunbury, Pennsylvania at Nextgen Bioplastics Inc

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plastics manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality bioplastic products safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production and quality standards. This hands-on role supports daily manufacturing operations by ensuring equipment is properly set up, products meet specifications, and production goals are achieved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Operations

• Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment, including extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, and injection molding.
• Set up equipment according to production specifications and perform basic machine adjustments.
• Monitor production output to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.
• Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality and consistency.
• Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance.
• Accurately record production data and report equipment or production issues promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, warehouse, and quality personnel to meet production objectives.

Quality & Safety

• Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and work instructions.
• Maintain compliance with company safety policies and required PPE.
• Identify and report quality, safety, or equipment concerns promptly.
• Support housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production area.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, warehousing, or distribution.
• Experience with plastics manufacturing, including extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, or injection molding.
• Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
• Basic inventory, shipping, or receiving experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an asset.

Physical Requirements

• Work in industrial manufacturing environment around noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
• Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform assembly and packaging tasks.
• Stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and access platforms.
• Lift, move, or carry up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
• Safely wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Stand and walk for the duration of a 8 - 12 hours shift
• Work overtime, weekends, adjusted schedules, or on-call hours as needed.
