Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, sustaining, and improving manufacturing processes associated with cartridge case production, deep draw metal forming, annealing, heat treatment, and related industrial manufacturing operations supporting the defense industrial base. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production, maintenance, quality, EHS, and government stakeholders to improve operational performance, process capability, throughput, safety, and product quality while supporting mission-critical defense manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:
• Support safe manufacturing practices in accordance with OSHA requirements, Process Safety Management principles, explosive safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements
• Ensure compliance with DoD regulations related to our industry.
• Support day-to-day manufacturing operations for deep draw press operations, metal forming, heat treat and annealing, wash and finishing operations, and case forming/sizing
• Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation, work instructions, and operating procedures.
• Analyze production performance and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Support and optimize deep draw and progressive forming operations
• Analyze forming defects, dimensional variation, material flow, die wear, and lubrication effectiveness
• Support operation and optimization of annealing and heat treatment processes
• Participate in, support, and at times lead company initiatives and projects.
• Support and optimize metal forming, heat treating, and thermal processing.
• Ensure quality standards are maintained, support Quality initiatives, troubleshooting and RCA’s as needed.
• Support operation and optimization of annealing and heat treatment processes
• Monitor and improve furnace performance, thermal uniformity, and process repeatability
• Identify opportunities for automation, process modernization, scrap reduction, cycle time improvement, and labor efficiency
• Support modernization initiatives involving MES systems and advanced process controls
• Analyze data, generate reports and present information to leadership.
• Other projects and work as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
• Candidates must be considered ITAR Authorized US Persons as defined under 22 CFR 120.62.
• Candidates must be lawfully permitted and comfortable working in facilities with access to firearms and munitions.
• This facility is located inside a military installation, candidates must be lawfully eligible to enter a military installation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related technical field
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience in industrial production environments
• Demonstrated experience supporting metal forming, stamping, deep draw, heat treat, or annealing operations
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, thermal processing, dimensional control, and manufacturing optimization
• Experience with root cause analysis and process troubleshooting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in defense manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing, or high-volume industrial production
• Experience with progressive dies, transfer presses, SPC systems, furnace control systems, MES systems, and closed-loop manufacturing controls
• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
• Experience supporting government or military manufacturing programs
• ISO AS Experience.

Physical Demands & Abilities
• This position reports onsite in Quad Cities Iowa.
• Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
• Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly, being able to walk the facility, climb stairs, exert or lift upwards of 25lbs regularly.
• Frequently work on projects that require deadlines, this may require working evenings or occasional weekends to meet deadlines.
• Occasional travel, both domestic and international, is required.

Working Conditions
Work will be completed in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment and may require some business travel to Department of War sites, trade shows & conferences, customers and suppliers will be required as business conditions need.
