Compensation Business Partner, R&D

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Compensation Business Partner, R&D based in United States.

This role is an excellent opportunity to influence compensation strategy within fast-paced Engineering and Product organizations. As a trusted advisor, you will partner with business leaders, HR, and Talent Acquisition to design competitive, equitable, and data-driven compensation solutions that attract and retain top talent. You will combine market intelligence, analytics, and modern technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to guide key compensation decisions and improve global reward programs. Working in a collaborative and innovative environment, you will lead strategic initiatives while helping shape compensation practices that align with long-term business objectives. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy blending analytical expertise, cross-functional partnership, and strategic execution.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition teams, and Engineering and Product leaders to provide strategic guidance on compensation decisions across the employee lifecycle, including hiring, promotions, retention, and critical talent initiatives.
  • Deliver data-driven compensation recommendations by leveraging market benchmarks, internal talent insights, compensation analytics, and AI-enabled tools while ensuring fairness and alignment with the overall compensation philosophy.
  • Evaluate existing global compensation programs, policies, and processes, identifying opportunities to improve effectiveness, competitiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead major compensation initiatives from planning through execution, including annual compensation reviews, promotion cycles, and equity award programs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain compensation dashboards, reporting solutions, and analytical tools that improve decision-making, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Create and enhance compensation training materials, documentation, and communications that improve transparency, understanding, and adoption of compensation programs across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to continuously improve compensation workflows while maintaining strong governance and data integrity.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience supporting global compensation programs, preferably within Engineering, Product, or other technical organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation benchmarking tools such as Radford, Compa, or similar market data platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets and experience working with HRIS platforms; Workday experience is considered an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging AI to enhance compensation analysis, reporting, dashboards, or workflow automation while exercising sound judgment and validating outputs.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, with experience advising business leaders and collaborating across multiple functions.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, lead projects independently, and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management capabilities with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary based on geographic location:
    • San Francisco, CA: $148,000–$190,000 USD
    • U.S. metropolitan areas (including Los Angeles, San Diego, New York City, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.): $129,000–$160,000 USD
    • Other U.S. locations: $129,000–$160,000 USD
  • Eligibility for additional total compensation, including restricted stock units (where applicable).
