Job Title: Life Enrichment Coordinator
Status: Salaried, exempt.
Work Schedule: Base Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Will work a mixture of 1st and 2nd shift hours as needed regularly to ensure activities are done with excellence on all shifts. Is position is a part of the DaySpring Assisted Living on-call rotation.

Position Summary
The Life Enrichment Coordinator is a leadership team member who is responsible for developing, coordinating, organizing, leading, and maintaining a quality Life Enrichment program for DaySpring Assisted Living and our Independent Living Apartments.

The Life Enrichment Coordinator uses their expertise, along with staff, family and community relationships/connections, to create meaningful activities based up each resident’s and tenant’s strengths, abilities, and interests.

The Life Enrichment Coordinator will ensure that the Life Enrichment program includes meeting the residents’ and tenants’ social, physical, emotional, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Essential Functions
  • In conjunction with resident and tenant input, develop monthly life enrichment calendars, which are congruent to the strengths, needs, and interests of the residents and tenants.
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the resident life enrichment program and as necessary modify the program to meet residents’ needs/interests, including updating and helping to develop Resident Life Plans.
  • Motivate and encourage all residents, tenants, and Resident Life Partners to attend and participate in scheduled programming as well as “quality-of-the-moment” spontaneous experiences.
  • Personally uphold the Resident Bill of Rights and HIPPA and ensure that volunteers and Resident Life Partners are doing so as well.
  • Maintain a working relationship with: DayBreak Program Coordinator, Agape
  • Be timely in planning, carrying out, and follow through of all activities and in ensuring completion of all paperwork and forms.
  • Serves as a point of contact for DaySpring Independent Living Apartment tenants and Dayspring Services leadership team, to communicate changes in care needs or condition to the appropriate individuals.
  • Takes photos of activities and events for social media and promotions.

Leadership and Staff Development
  • Life Enrichment Coordinator to lead, model, mentor, and teach/train Resident Life Partners to carry out provided activities calendar and to provide spontaneous activities during resident awake hours.
  • Supervise staff on various shifts to ensure that residents are engaging in activities and the planned activities are being conducted “Full of Life.”

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position provides day-to-day leadership, direction, training, coaching, and work oversight to Resident Life Partners to fulfill the life enrichment program. The position may participate in interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and corrective action processes in partnership with the Administrator.

Administrative and Operational Responsibilities
  • Interview and assess all residents’ and tenants’ abilities/strengths at admission, including speaking with family members, to determine residents’ and tenants’ interests, abilities, strengths, and social history.
  • Create activity plan and train staff to implement activities both planned and spontaneous, with expertise to work with older adults with a wide range of cognitive levels including those with dementia or memory impairments.
  • Based upon the activity assessment, develop then implement a life-enrichment plan with measurable goals consistent with the resident’s Life Plan including large group, small group, or 1:1 if necessary.

Required Qualifications:

Leadership experience guiding a team to reach desired outcomes, with goal of all residents and tenants experiencing full-of-life activities.
  • Desire, Experience, and Training in leading activities with a senior population.
  • Passionate about impacting the lives of older adults with God’s love through a meaningful life enrichment program.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Chauffeurs license, driving a 15-passenger van for outings.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity, empathy, and an interest in working with frail and memory-impaired individuals.
  • Must be reliable, flexible, patient, caring and have a sense of humor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, residents, families, and public.
  • Is creative and self-motivated to ensure that all residents and tenants are engaged in life-enriching activities encompassing their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health.
  • Has good organizational skills, with focus on completion of activity logs to ensure documenting of resident attendance at activities.
  • Has good problem-solving abilities with ability to find ways to engage those who decline or are reluctant to participate.
  • Is able to multi-task effectively.

Preferred qualifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or similar electronic health record systems.
  • Experience working in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care settings.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Includes participating in the DaySpring Assisted Living on-call rotation.

  • Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and training.
