Job Description

Position Summary

The User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Specialist at SUMURI is responsible for validating new software

builds, updates, and features for RECON ITR, RECON LAB, and PALADIN before they are released to

customers. This role tests builds received from the Development team against established requirements

and acceptance criteria, identifies defects and usability issues, and delivers clear, actionable feedback to

drive product quality and reliability. The UAT Specialist works closely with the Development team

throughout the build-and-feedback cycle, verifying fixes, performing regression testing, and ensuring that

SUMURI's digital forensics software meets a high standard of functionality and user experience prior to

release. Because the majority of SUMURI's products and workflows run on macOS, experience working

within a macOS environment is strongly preferred. Success in this position requires strong attention to

detail, analytical thinking, clear written communication, and the ability to evaluate software from the

perspective of the end user.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive new software builds, updates, and release candidates for RECON ITR, RECON LAB, and

PALADIN from the Development team and execute structured User Acceptance Testing (UAT) prior to

release.

• Develop and maintain UAT test plans, test cases, and checklists based on product requirements, user

stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Leverage AI-assisted tools to support UAT activities—such as generating and refining test cases,

analyzing logs and defects, and accelerating regression testing—while applying human judgment to

verify results and ensure forensic accuracy.

• Test new features, enhancements, and bug fixes across RECON ITR, RECON LAB, and PALADIN to

confirm they function as intended and meet quality and usability standards.

• Identify, document, and report defects, inconsistencies, and usability issues with clear, reproducible

steps and supporting evidence (screenshots, logs, sample data).

• Provide timely, detailed, and constructive feedback to the Development team on build quality,

functionality, and overall user experience.

• Re-test and verify resolved issues and bug fixes to confirm successful resolution before sign-off and

release.

• Perform regression testing to confirm that new changes do not introduce defects into existing

functionality.

• Collaborate with Development and Product teams to clarify requirements, prioritize reported issues, and

track defects through to resolution.

• Maintain organized, accurate records of test results, defect logs, and build approval status within JIRA.

• Evaluate software from an end-user perspective, flagging workflow, usability, or design concerns that

may affect customer experience.

• Participate in ongoing learning to stay current on SUMURI's product line, digital forensics workflows,

and industry trends in order to test with informed, real-world context.

• Assist customers as needed, including providing technical support and supporting the Sales team.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or

equivalent practical experience.

• Prior experience in software testing, quality assurance, or user acceptance testing preferred.

• Experience with macOS strongly preferred, as the majority of SUMURI's products and testing workflows

are conducted in a macOS environment.

• Familiarity with RECON ITR, RECON LAB, or PALADIN, or with digital forensics tools more broadly, is

a plus.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies, edge cases, and unexpected

behavior.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting and reporting findings to a technical

audience.

• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and common testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with JIRA for tracking and reporting defects is a plus.

• Ability to manage multiple test cycles and meet release deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
