About the role

The Backend Developer is the architectural backbone of our digital ecosystem. You will build, maintain, and optimize the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power our applications. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless data flow, robust security, and high performance across all user touchpoints. We are looking for a highly analytical problem-solver who excels at system design, writes efficient and scalable TypeScript, and thrives in a modern BaaS and cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supabase Architecture & Maintenance: Maintain existing API endpoints, design comprehensive Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), and continuously optimize data queries for peak performance.
• Platform Integrations (PPB): Develop and manage robust integrations across our tech stack, specifically utilizing Supabase DB, Edge Functions, Hygraph, and Algolia.
• Authentication & Access Management: Utilize Descope to securely manage authentication flows, user sessions, and complex multi-tenant architectures.
• Data Pipelines & Schema Design: Leverage Palantir to build relational "table-like" schemas, manage complex datasets, implement data pipelines, and develop automations and Edge Functions.
• Technical Support & Triage: Act as the technical owner for your assigned systems, managing and resolving incoming support tickets from business users while balancing quick fixes with long-term codebase health.
• AI-Augmented Development: Utilization of AI-powered workflows. Leverage tools like Cursor and Gemini to accelerate initial development and refactoring while maintaining oversight of code quality.

Qualifications

• Professional Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• BaaS & Cloud Infrastructure: Deep experience with Backend-as-a-Service platforms (Supabase) or other major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure), including writing and executing TypeScript Edge Functions.
• Database Mastery: Advanced proficiency with relational databases (SQL/PostgreSQL) and in-memory data stores (Redis).
• API Design: Strong background in RESTful API development, including designing general API flows, structuring data contracts, and managing endpoints.
• AI Agent Building: Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and agent builders such as LangSmith or Vertex AI.
• System Architecture: Solid understanding of modern software architecture principles and scalable system design.
• Modern Tooling: Proficiency with Docker, Postman, Git (GitHub/GitLab), and UML/flowcharting software (Miro/Lucidchart).
• Global Collaboration: Experience working effectively with distributed teams across varying international time zones.

• Authentication Systems: Exposure to identity and access management platforms such as Descope, Auth0, or Firebase Auth, particularly in multi-tenant environments.
• AI-Augmented Development: Practical experience using AI-powered coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini) to accelerate development workflows while maintaining code quality and oversight.
• Observability & Debugging: Experience with monitoring, logging, or APM tools (e.g., Sentry, Supabase Logs) to diagnose production issues and optimize system performance.
• CI/CD & DevOps Fundamentals: Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and containerized development environments (Docker).
• Code Portfolio: A GitHub profile or portfolio demonstrating clean, well-structured backend projects and thoughtful problem-solving.
