Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:The Dentist provides comprehensive dental care services to patients of Hamilton Health Center, including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and education. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational protocols. The Dentist functions as a key clinical provider within the Dental Department, collaborating with dental assistants, hygienists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective care delivery and positive patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for patients across the lifespan· Provide preventative, restorative, and basic surgical dental services within scope of practice· Educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, and post-treatment care· Review and update patient medical and dental histories to ensure safe and effective treatment planning· Document all clinical findings, treatment plans, and procedures accurately in the electronic health record· Interpret diagnostic imaging and perform intraoral and extraoral examinations· Refer patients to specialists for advanced or complex care as appropriate· Collaborate with dental assistants, hygienists, and support staff to ensure efficient clinical operations· Provide clinical guidance and oversight to auxiliary dental staff as needed· Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, including ADA, OSHA, and CDC guidelines· Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies· Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical reviews, and departmental meetings· Support organizational goals related to access to care, patient satisfaction, and health outcomes· Perform other duties within scope of practice as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:· Strong knowledge of general dentistry practices, procedures, and standards of care· Ability to provide care to diverse patient populations, including underserved and special populations· Understanding of public health principles and FQHC service delivery model preferred· Excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients and staff· Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment· Commitment to quality, compliance, and patient-centered care
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEEducation & Experience:· Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school required
Licensure & Certifications:· Current, unrestricted Pennsylvania Dental License (or eligibility to obtain)· Current DEA registration· Current CPR/BLS certification· Eligible for credentialing with third-party payers and FTCA coverage

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/MOTOR COORDINATIONRequires hand-eye coordination; finger dexterity, and a combination of sitting, standing,climbing, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 15 pounds). Must be able to write, type, use telephone and computer systems, and other office equipment. May require sitting or standing for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENTExposure to routine medical office/health clinic conditions as well as adverse environmental conditions such as dust, temperature and noise extremes, etc. May be exposed to infectious or contagious disease.
