Northwest Kidney Centers seeks a Major Gifts Officer to support the Development team in a full-time, hybrid position (Burien, WA).
Shift:Full-time, Monday-Friday, Hybrid.
Purpose
The Major Gifts Officer is a highly skilled, experienced, and results-oriented fundraising professional who can plan individual giving strategies and manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors. They will serve as a strategic thought partner to the VP of Development on campaign planning and the cultivation and stewardship of individual donors. The successful candidate will understand the complexities of philanthropy and be excited to build and grow an individual gifts program. The successful candidate is an excellent relationship steward with a proven record of producing measurable results. They bring experience in the healthcare field and will build on the organizations success of event-based fundraising by taking the major donor program to the next level.
Duties
- Oversees an individual giving strategy for a portfolio of 100 120 major donors ($5,000+) and prospects, managing each step of the major donor pipeline, including discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Maintains excellent donor relations through personal visits, tours of NKC facilities, phone calls, email and other correspondence, and other activities.
- Updates major donor prospect lists in consultation with the Vice President, President/CEO, NKC and Foundation Boards, senior management, physicians and other staff and volunteers.
- Manages acceptance of major gifts according to adopted policies and procedures, working with other development staff and NKC executive leadership.
- Acts as liaison with medical staff for Grateful Patient fundraising
- Consults with professional advisors and legal counsel to complete gifts which meet donors charitable giving objectives, support NKCs mission and meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Promotes Planned Giving (Heritage Society) as appropriate donors.
- Works with programmatic and communications team to prepare timely, accurate and complete gift proposals, endowment, and other gift agreements.
- Organizes individual donor stewardship and recognition activities to cultivate and recognize major donors.
- Keeps abreast of philanthropic/fund development trends, best practices, and regulatory issues with potential to impact NKCs major donor activities
- Travels locally to meet with donors and professional advisors in a variety of locations.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
Bachelors degree, preferably in marketing, communications, public relations, political science, journalism, or business administration. Five years of related work experience involving directing successful major gift campaigns for healthcare, education, or other nonprofit causes.
