This Role:
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day shipping operations while leading and developing a team of shipping associates. This role ensures the accurate, safe, and timely shipment of customer orders while maintaining operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and compliance with company policies and transportation regulations. The Shipping Supervisor serves as a key leader within the warehouse, driving continuous improvement initiatives, monitoring performance metrics, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support customer satisfaction and business objectives.
What You Will Do:
- Supervise and coordinate daily shipping operations to ensure customer orders are processed accurately and shipped on time.
- Lead, coach, train, and develop shipping associates to achieve departmental performance goals.
- Monitor daily workloads and allocate resources to meet shipping schedules and customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and transportation regulations.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and address employee performance concerns when necessary.
- Maintain staffing schedules and assist with workforce planning to support operational demands.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time shipments, productivity, quality, and freight costs.
- Coordinate with customer service, production, planning, inventory control, and transportation teams to resolve shipping issues and improve service levels.
- Oversee shipping documentation, including bills of lading, shipping labels, freight paperwork, and carrier documentation.
- Manage relationships with carriers and assist in resolving delivery, freight, and transportation issues.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through proper shipment verification and transaction processing.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting within ERP and warehouse management systems.
- Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and warehouse initiatives as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of warehouse, shipping, logistics, or distribution experience.
- Forklift experience is required
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Experience with ERP systems; Oracle and SAP preferred.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, shipping processes, transportation regulations, and warehouse operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
