Description
Position Purpose
As a LONG Commercial Install Technician, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, and replace commercial HVAC systems with a high level of technical expertise. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Project Sales, Project Managers, and fellow technicians to execute installation projects in accordance with LONG's established standards and procedures. While you will be part of a larger team of skilled technicians, much of your work will be performed independently in the field.
LONG provides a company vehicle, mobile phone, and work apparel to ensure you have the tools and resources needed to succeed. Your primary focus will be delivering high-quality installation, repair, and replacement services for customer HVAC equipment while providing exceptional customer service, identifying system issues, and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner.
Pay Range: $38 - $52 per hr. plus potential profit share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead, coordinate and oversee large-scale commercial HVAC installation and retrofit projects.
- Manage project timelines and workflow to ensure schedules, milestones, and deadlines are achieved.
- Perform equipment and system layout activities to support successful project execution.
- Complete material takeoffs and verify project material requirements as needed.
- Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to apprentices and less experienced technicians.
- Perform equipment startups, testing, commissioning, and associated documentation in accordance with manufacturer and company standards.
- Provide technical expertise and support to Service Supervisors in diagnosing and resolving complex installation and equipment issues.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for advanced commercial HVAC installations, startups, and system troubleshooting.
- Participate in and successfully complete required training, certifications, and professional development opportunities.
- Design, recommend, and implement HVAC solutions that meet customer operational and performance needs.
- Promptly and accurately complete all required paperwork while on the job.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers upon arrival at job sites, confirming satisfaction before departing, and consistently representing the company with professionalism.
- Work safely and effectively in confined spaces, including mechanical rooms and other restricted-access areas, to perform installation, startup, and repair activities.
- Maintain strict compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to promote a safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 6+ years working experience with commercial HVAC systems.
- Ability to work after-hours when needed.
- Experience managing large-scale HVAC projects.
- Expert knowledge of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, including variable refrigerant flow (VRF) and building automation systems (BAS).
- Knowledge of advanced refrigerant management and environmental impact.
- Familiarity with emerging HVAC technologies and industry trends.
- Valid CFC Refrigeration certificate.
- Understand system design, load calculations and energy modeling.
- This position requires the ability to drive a company vehicle safely and legally.
- Advanced oral, written, interpersonal communication skills, as well as excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel) and able to learn additional computer software quickly.
