Job Description
As a Community Relations Coordinator, you’ll serve as a vital link between the facility, persons served, families, and the broader community. You’ll help build meaningful partnerships, advocate for persons served rights, coordinate community engagement initiatives, and support a culture of inclusion, communication, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about advocacy, relationship-building, and creating positive experiences for persons served and their families.
What You’ll Do
• Serve as the primary point of contact for families, helping address concerns and facilitate communication between interested parties.
• Chair the Family Advisory Committee and coordinate educational sessions and resources for family members.
• Represent the facility at community meetings, stakeholder groups, and assigned facility committees.
• Coordinate community outreach efforts, presentations, facility tours, fundraising events, blood drives, and other engagement activities.
• Plan and support quarterly and annual campaigns, events, and community initiatives.
• Train employees on Persons Served Rights, applicable state statutes, and regulatory requirements.
• Review, maintain, and update Ethics, Rights, and Responsibilities policies to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Serve as the facility’s Single Point of Contact for services supporting individuals and companions who are deaf or hard of hearing, when applicable.
• Coordinate training related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other accessibility requirements.
• Monitor communication plans, assessments, feedback processes, and documentation to ensure quality, compliance, and positive outcomes.
• Collaborate with leadership, staff, community partners, and stakeholders to support facility goals and improve the experience of persons served.
What We’re Looking For
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in social services or equivalent from an accredited college or university (required)
Experience
• Three (3) years of experience in a mental health setting in an advocacy, community relations, patient rights, or related role (required)
