About the role:

  • The major responsibility of this position is to assume a leadership role on the assigned shift, be accountable and responsible for that shift, and lead the shift’s maintenance associates. This position is responsible for shift oversight, coordination of equipment downtime resolution, and Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities, employee safety and intra-departmental communication issues. This position leads and coaches the maintenance associates in the areas of problem resolution, continuous improvement, waste reduction and to assure that constructive change occurs at the shop floor level.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Supervises, orients, and trains employees.
  • Supervises, orients and trains assigned employees; prepares work schedules; assigns daily duties and periodic, preventive and routine cleaning and maintenance and special projects.
  • Interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations; evaluates and rates employees’ job performance, punctuality, attendance, attitude and safety; administers corrective discipline when appropriate.
  • Reviews completed work orders, daily work sheets and preventive maintenance forms to ensure that time and material utilized in completing work assignments are properly documented; tracks all work orders and special projects to insure timely completion.
  • Performs other duties related to the commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems as assigned.
  • Assesses, plans, maintains and improves centralized, automated systems used to manage the Fire Alarm system, Pneumatic Tube system, the Nurse Call system and other miscellaneous electronic control systems and devices.
  • Assesses system performance and usage to recommend potential energy savings.
  • Shares on-call duty with other engineering and maintenance employees on a rotating basis.
  • Coordinates work projects and repairs with other shops and outside contractors.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, safety meetings, and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase knowledge; service on committees as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: HS Diploma/GED preferred
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience
  • Licenses and Certifications: Must hold a full Maryland Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
