The Construction Survey Crew Chief performs field geomatics operations necessary for the completion of civil projects. This team member has mastered the use of both GPS and robotic instruments and is comfortable with traditional total stations, scanning total stations, and various types of leveling equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Survey Equipment & Data Collection

• Set up, verify, and operate GPS, Robotic Total Station, Scanning Total Station, Automatic and Digital Levels, and Traditional Total Station (Locking) equipment, including required error checks.
• Verify existing survey control and establish or re-establish control as needed.
• Collect basic topographic and as-built data.
• Perform Rapid Static sessions.
• Perform scans for sign confirmations and as-built documentation in areas with limited access.
• Perform layout of low-, intermediate-, and high-risk items, as applicable to the equipment and project requirements.

Research, Data Documentation, Quality Assurance

• Review project documents and completed layouts to support accurate fieldwork and identify potential issues.
• Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, survey team members, and clients to resolve issues and support project progression.
• Communicate findings, project updates, and potential issues clearly and promptly.
• Develop potential solutions to field and layout issues for review with the Project Manager.
• Transfer field data and documentation to appropriate office personnel in the required formats.
• Maintain complete and accurate field notes and project records.
• Follow established safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork.
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in data collection to ensure quality survey results.
• Develop effective client communication skills to support successful project completion.

• 5+ years of industry experience with surveying instruments and equipment
• Certified Survey Technician (CST) preferred
• Strong technical, measurement and calculations skills
• Strong communication skills (listening, writing and verbal)
• Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions and environments and carry up to 80lbs
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company MVR standards, clean background check and drug screening
