Polysomnographic Technologist in Chicago, Illinois at Sinai Chicago

General Summary/basic PURPOSE OF JOB:

Primary job; measures nervous system function using electroencephalograph (EEG), perform duties noted below. May also assist/perform the following depending upon background and training; evoked potential (EP), polysomnograph (PSG), and nerve conduction velocity studies (NCV) using appropriate instrumentation and performs the following duties.

Essential Functions and Duties:

· Measures and accurately applies electrodes according to the 10/20 International System in a timely manner, according to laboratory standards.

· Appropriately applies EKG, EMG, and EOG monitoring electrodes.

· Compiles a patient history gathering appropriate information from patient's record, and family members to include any sleep disturbance.

· Interviews patient to assess current medications, recent caffeine or alcohol ingestion, and current sleep patterns.

· Performs and records mechanical calibrations according to lab policy.

· Performs and records physiological calibrations according to lab policy.

· Performs polysomnogram according to standards of the laboratory.

· Administers Oxygen following laboratory policy.

MINIMUM Education:

• Must have appropriate training to fulfill job requirements, usually completion of first year of a formal Electroneurodiagnostic (ENDT) school or Polysomnographic technologist Program.
• Prefer graduate of a formal ENDT program or Polysomnographic Technologist Program.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

• 1 year experience in field

REQUIRED LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations:

• Registry as R. EEG T., RPsGT, preferred or licensed as a RCP.
