Job Description
Burloak Technologies is a pioneering additive manufacturing (AM) metal technology company with an expectation of significant growth in the short term as it transforms from a research & development stage to a commercial and production focused company within the AM environment. Burloak Technologies is a division of i3D Manufacturing. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our team in Oakville. This position will report to the VP of HR at i3D Manufacturing.
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for HR related duties for Burloak Technologies. This position will focus on employee relations, recruitment and workforce planning, employee engagement, internal communication, performance, and talent management. This position will be responsible for reporting HR related matters to i3D Manufacturing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Assist hiring managers to coordinate full-cycle recruiting efforts, including job postings, screening, interviews, and offer processes
- Manage applicant tracking
- Maintain accurate recruitment and hiring documentation
- Manage recruiting and onboarding through the company’s payroll and HRIS system
- Coordinate with hiring managers on scheduling interviews
- Onboard hired candidates through the payroll system
Payroll Processing
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees, hourly and salaried
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, deductions, garnishments, and payroll changes
- Partner with i3D VP of HR and finance to ensure accurate payroll processing, tax filings, and reporting
- Review payroll registers for accuracy
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain employee records in HRIS systems and company filing systems to ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
- Support compliance with national and local employment laws and regulations
- Assist with audits, reporting, and policy updates
- Support wage and hour compliance through payroll review, education of employees and managers, and time clock management
- Administer and coordinate leaves of absence, including STD and LTD or related programs
Safety & Policy Administration
· Partner with site leadership to implement HR policies, procedures, and programs
· Support the delivery and enforcement of safety initiatives
· Track all safety related incidents and process related paperwork
· Maintain safety logs and ensure safety related reporting is complete
Benefits & Compensation
- Liaison with third party broker to administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries
- Understand the details of the company’s benefit and retirement offerings to assist employees and answer questions related to the same
- Maintain current benefit and retirement selections in the related platforms used by the company
- Support compensation processes such as salary changes, job evaluations, and annual reviews through the company’s payroll and HRIS systems
Performance Management & Training
- Assist managers with performance review cycles and goal-setting processes
- Coordinate training programs and track employee development initiatives
- Assist with the documentation of performance reviews and related compensation changes
Employee Onboarding
- Lead the onboarding of new employees, including new hire paperwork, training, introduction to company culture, and other administrative duties
- Maintain inventory levels and stock miscellaneous items including company branded t-shirts, lanyards and company swag.
- Ensure new hires have access to the software systems and other IT related needs dependent upon the employee’s position
- Coordinate training schedule with hiring manager
- Communicate uniform or company provided gear needs to hiring manager or designated company contact
- Ensure that new employees are familiar with payroll systems, time clocks, company event access and expectations
Employee Experience
- Organize and coordinate employee engagement initiatives and company events, including monthly events and all-hands meetings
- Manage employee engagement surveys and processes, as required
- Support HR processes by preparing and distributing internal communications, policies and announcements
The expected annual salary range for this position is $78,080 to $97,600. Actual salary will depend on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most offers will fall within this range and not at the maximum, allowing room for future growth. This position is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus based on individual and business performance factors, in accordance with Burloak Tech.’s applicable incentive policy.
Requirements:- A well-rounded HR professional with at least 5 years’ generalist experience.
- Successful completion of a post-secondary program in a HR related field. Preference to individuals who are working towards or have completed their HR professional designation.
- Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships, both within and external to the organization.
- Cross-border experience (Canada/US) an asset.
- Experience with Controlled Goods Program (CGP) or ITAR considered an asset.
- Demonstrates good judgment, and tact.
- Proven and exemplary organizational, leadership and communication skills and a professional and collaborative approach to problem solving.
- Have a solid grasp of legislation and regulations that have a bearing on employment matters.
- Experience using an HCM system; experience with Paylocity considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong decision-making capability.
- Industry experience and/or experience working in a start-up would be considered a strong asset.
