We’re looking for our next People & Culture Student (Early Careers) who’s excited to jump into the world of HR and recruitment, working closely with our fun, fast‑paced People & Culture team based in Edmonton, AB. This role will be hands‑on and heavily involved in recruitment — from coordinating postings and interviews to supporting onboarding and welcoming new team members to GeoVerra. You’ll get exposure to a wide range of HR activities and be right in the middle of how we attract and grow our teams.

This is a temporary 6-month position, with high possibility of extension. The successful candidate will need to be able to work out of our Edmonton office 2 days per week and can work from home up to 3 days per week.

Part of our student early‑career program, this role is suited for individuals graduating soon or who have recently completed their studies.

What you will do:

Support the Human Resources team including, but not limited to:

  • Support recruitment administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Job posting and maintenance using our applicant tracking system (ATS - ADP).
    • Conducting pre-screen phone calls with candidate,
    • Coordinating interview scheduling with candidates and hiring leaders,
    • Calling candidate references and conducting reference checks,
    • Administering the pre-boarding and onboarding processes by maintaining open communication with new hires and hiring leader,
    • Respond to external inquiries through the Careers inbox and triage emails to hiring leaders and team members as appropriate.
  • Support HR administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Reviewing and analyzing invoices to create monthly and weekly reports
    • Use ADP to run various payroll reports on a bi-weekly basis.
    • Extract and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.
  • Complete regular HR reporting for multiple business units on people statistics.
  • Attend regular recruitment meetings with the Recruitment team and hiring leaders.
  • Record accurate meeting notes and action items at team meetings.
  • Complete data entry in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Support the HR team with letter creation for employment verification letters, employee change letters, offer letters and more.
  • Evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business.
  • Other tasks as required.

What you will bring:

  • Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis and pursuing a degree or diploma with a specialization in HR, or a recent graduate.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with various computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel would be considered an asset.
  • Maintain utmost confidentiality when working with employee information.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team on various projects.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities under tight deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.

  • Keen analytical, investigative and problem-solving abilities.
