The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Respiratory Therapist Registered is responsible for the care, evaluation and tests of acute care patients suffering from complications related to the breathing system.

Respiratory Therapist Registered practices under the able guidance of expert physicians and should ensure that all respiratory care, starting from diagnosis to therapeutic treatment is properly carried out.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of a Respiratory Care education program

Preferred:

  • PALS and NRP
  • At least two years of experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ Respiratory License
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 7am-7pm
  • Full-Time (FT)

Essential Functions:

  • Performs patient assessment pre, during, and post procedure for all ages groups including pediatric, adult, and geriatric
  • Demonstrates competency in assessment based on patient age, as well as physical and emotional growth
  • Demonstrates competence with all respiratory modalities and equipment
  • Performs maintenance and quality control procedures for pulmonary function testing and blood analyzers
  • Performs invasive procedures according to hospital and departmental guidelines, and endorses all critical results
  • Follows disinfection and sterilization procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of ventilation modes, weaning, and safety procedures for all age groups
  • Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, clinical personnel, patients, and visitors
  • Assumes role of Charge Person when indicated according to department guidelines
  • Completes departmental documentation and charges by the shift end
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at anytime with or without notice
