About Workshop/APD

Workshop/APD is an award-winning, multidisciplinary architecture and design firm. From dramatic penthouses and seaside retreats to luxury residential developments and groundbreaking hotels and restaurants, our projects are uniquely defined by a sense of place and purpose and a desire to ultimately enhance users experience through exceptional design. About the Scholarship

The Workshop/APD Scholarship Program provides two $12,500 awards to outstanding architecture and interior design students who demonstrate creativity, thoughtfulness, and a strong design voice. The scholarship is intended to support continued academic and creative development during the 2026 academic year. Funds can be used for tuition and direct academic expenses only and will be distributed each semester ($6,750 per semester).

We are seeking motivated, curious, and design-driven students who:

  • Are passionate about architecture or interior design
  • Demonstrate strong conceptual thinking and visual communication
  • Show clarity of intent, originality, and a thoughtful, design process
  • Are eager to contribute to and shape the future of the built environment
  • Align with Workshop/APD's values of collaboration, learning and design excellence

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in an eligible architecture or interior design program from the selected schools
  • Be an undergraduate student entering junior year or above OR a current graduate student
  • Be pursuing a degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Be able to provide proof of qualifications for financial aid

  • Design Essay: Respond to one of the one below design‑focused prompts related to process, risk‑taking, impact, or alignment with Workshop/APD’s work
    • Describe a design project you are most proud of. What was your process and what did you learn?
    • How do you approach a design problem that has no clear solution?
    • Tell us about a time you took a creative risk. What was the outcome?
    • How do you hope to impact the built environment or design industry through your work?
    • What excites you about the work we do at Workshop/APD, and how does it connect to your goals?
    • How has your background or community influenced your approach to design?
  • Portfolio: in PDF format
    • Maximum 15 pages
    • File size not to exceed 10MB
    • Academic and/or personal work accepted
    • Each project to include title, brief description and clear explanation of your role
